Greetings! Rumors of our demise have been greatly exaggerated. We recently left our mountainous crag and settled among the fertile meadows and orchards of the Shenandoah Valley floor. We think the bees will love it. We also hope there will be fewer bears to contend with.
If this is your first visit, WELCOME! Misty Mountain Meadworks is a small Virginia farm winery. We specialize in making MEAD, which some people call Honey Wine. It has also been called “Ambrosia” and “Nectar of the Gods.”
We are now the oldest operating meadery in Virginia. The meadery is owned and operated by the Copeland family and is located just north of Winchester, Virginia. Our Meadmaker, Richard, is very experienced. He began experimenting with mead making in 1983. By 2004 his Meads had become so popular with our friends and neighbors that they persuaded us to start a commercial Meadery. And here we are.
Our Mead is available at local fine retailers in the Winchester area. Virginia residents can order directly from us. Misty Mountain Meadworks is open to the public by appointment. However, with your support, we will soon have a mead-hall that will make Beowulf proud. The tasting room is located at 661 Warm Springs Rd. in Winchester, VA 22603.
